Wow, that cat is immature. There are more dignified ways to express yourself than behaving like a stubborn two year old with a sign.

We don't need any more laws added to restrict and punish a person for demonstrating their freedom of speech.

No, I don't see it that way. He didn't interrupt or make a sound at all, so people could hear the presentation just fine. It is rude to be sure, but not against the law and totally within his freedom of speech rights. Now the person that came up to him and had a physical confrontation is another matter entirely, and that person was properly escorted out by security.

I disagree with his action first. If someone pro-obama did the same thing at a McCain speech, I would disagree with it.
He didn't interfere with Penn's speech, but he interfered with people's hability to listen to it. And freedom of speech is nothing without the freedom to be able to listen without a far too apparent distraction.
It has nothing to do with political bias.

He was far enough away to not interfere with Penn's freedom of speech, and not obstruct visibility of his lips. Those with disability should be seated close to the front anyway. He wasn't on stage. You really are grasping at straws here, only because you disagree with the protestor's opinion.

What if a deft person is in the audience and can't read the lips?
Seeing someone's body language is sometimes as important as the speech itself.
I really think that you interfere with f
Freedom of speech is good until you interfere with another person's freedom to express himself. To me, he did interfere.
You didn't answer my question. If a politician is doing a speech, the protesters should be allowed on the stage in front of the politician?
Darkrift777 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Freedom of speech doesn't limit to exactly where a person is allowed to stand.
leolauzon (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I understand that, I still think you shouldn't be allowed to be in the way. You want to protest? Stand on the side a little bit.
So if I don't like what a politician is saying, I can just put myself in front so no one can see him? I don't think it should be legal.

The guy holding the sign wasn't disrupting or stopping Penn from exercising his freedom of speech. If he had, he would have been removed by security, just like the liberal douche that was confrontational and wanted to censor him.
