natee444 , i wonder if u knew what the name battdmbong and siam reap meant to you? if is Thaialnd why is the name and words are in khmer ? siam reap meant siam got flaten, if its Thailand would u be using khmer words which ur self dont even understand ? also if cambodian and angkorwat belong to Thailand ? wouldnt your past king be living at angkor wat? and even after you conquer cambodia Thai still didnt live at angkor wat ? u know why? becuz the great city didnt belong to them its only logic

Thats also very plausable that the Thai word Khom may have derived from Kampuchea, with Kam pronounced as Kham or Khom.

After listening to King Sihamoni pronunciation the word Kampuchea in Khmer I think the word Khom that Thais called Khmers is came from the word "Kam"-puchea.

You are also right, Mon-Khmer is the english literation and if I remember a long time ago a theory of the word Khom the Thai used to refer to Angkorian Khmers which came from the word Khmer-Mon.
