I think it was Wagner who inspired Williams so much, but I doubt he didn't come into contact with Prokofiev.

I would not be surprised if John Williams said that he listened to Prokofiev while he was reading his Science Fictio when he was younger.

Indeed, John Williams's music (Star Wars), is very close to Prokofiev's Music... Of course.. It's not Prokofiev who is inspired by John Williams! (lol) NB: I love John Williams's music.. because of that!... All his music is SO close to Prokofiev!... listen to Harry Potter for exemple!... :-)
