http://www.edmunds.com/insidel... We know you want the numbers and we're not going to waste your time. Neither is Nissan. Its 2009 GT-R hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, quicker than the last Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo we tested. Keep your foot pinned, and after another tap on the upshift paddle it will clear the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at more than 120 mph.

Awesome car. But it's probably the ugliest car ever. Why put the soul of a sports car in a sedan? It's like putting an LS7 in a Neon. I'm sure it would be better if they had taken the sports car thing purely.
donisthabomb1 (October 11, 2008 at 4:45 pm)
the reason the GTR is so heavy is because it has AWD, 4 seats and has all the things u'd expect in a sedan. yes it is heavy, but it handles great, just look at a bugatti veyron's weight. breaking under launch control? how do you know, the car hasnt even been out that long lol.

his cars a piece of shit, Incase you didn't know. If your a real gear head and truly love R34's you would know that this cars tranny is a piece, Nissan released a statement saying that this car's tranny can only be launched an average of 15 times before it seizes and goes into limp mode. The cars fast sure, but what's the point of owning it if you cant even launch it to achieve those speeds? And there's a black box on board so if you drive it like it was meant to be..bye bye warranty. GTR=JOKE.
kaiPLN (October 10, 2008 at 11:32 pm)
too bad he just voided his warranty using launch control because nissan clearly states in the cars manual that if you turn off VDC(which you have to in order to do a lauch)it voids you warranty and now he'll have to pay $20,000(some guy was quoted that much for 1) for a new transmission because more and more ppl start showing up with blown transmissions...nissan knows something but will not tell anybody about their transmissions that cant stand the power of the gtr

AWD does vastly improve drivability, however. Not performance. It might help you but not that much. Maybe one or two seconds in a long track. 470PS RX-7's have beat 750hp R34's in Tsukuba time attacks.
doitlive08 (October 10, 2008 at 10:06 pm)
And I can reference you to the GM engineers. Look it up. They did not use the LS7 because its walls are too thin. Doesn't mean it can't make 100 more hp, but that it about it. It would require heavy modifying before you can do any more. Again, this is from GM's own engineers, go look it up. They did not use the LS7 for reliability purposes. AWD doesn't help a car perform that much better. You should know this by now. In track performance, AWD has not been known to VASTLY improve times.
Auriconxl (October 10, 2008 at 6:32 pm)
Ummm, because that has nothing to do with displacement. That's all about power to weight ratio, which is something else the GTR sucks in. It's a big heavy boat, and the ONLY reason it handles decently is the AWD. The car is a huge heavy land yacht and the tranny is prone to breaking under launch control.
Auriconxl (October 10, 2008 at 6:28 pm)
This makes very little sense, as the LS7 is shown to make much more horsepower with simple add ons such as intake, exhaust, headers, cams, etc. With these easy bolt ons, several Z06's are pushing almost 600 hp and above on the stock block, so how does the LS7 not have room for more potential again? Fel free to look up the many modded Z06 dynos on Youtube for reference.
