This is a turning point in the musical. Unfortunately for Billy Elliot it's a very cliche and dull story. That's why the movie was mediocre at the best of times. The musical seems destined for the same road, right up until this scene. The music adds a whole new element to Billy Elliot and when they bust out something this intense you can't help but get chills.
It really is a great show and in no small part to this number and the other songs done by the miners.
