It is a myth that they are very heavy. Some of their songs are a little heavy, but a lot of them are very much like this: melodic and beautiful.
Mogwai and Sigur Ros have distincitve styles. I personally do not hear much similarity.
BTW, Mogwai is the greatest band on the planet.
