you must. Universal Records released a special collectors edition of UNFORGETTABLE / TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS with selections from both album. the album is entitled simply UNFORGETTABLE.

I got hold of a copy of this album when it was first released in 1984 (on cassette tape). Now that i´ve heard this song again, i just remember that I gotta get hold of the CD the next time I get back in the Phils... it is simply a "must have" in my collection of standards...

That's extreme. I mean, it strains to be ordinary, and can't help but be extraordinary.
The tension is a tease. The music far more pedantic than the amazing voice that holds it together and stretches the whole to something more than the musicians are capable of imagining.
Modern rhythm, classic.

It's nice, but I can't deal with the vibrato.

Ooops.. I mean the only Filipino singer... the others I heard like Martin Nievera are just so-so...

I beg to disagree. I think Kuh Ledesma is the only singer who has been able to deliver an exceptional album of standards and classics. Effervescent, classy, exceptional artistry... this album ranks as the most artistic of them all...

still topselling? that's impressive. as you know, i don't care for Kuh's rendition of this song but what i find quite telling is that she decided to do an album of old classics when she did. streisand released her broadway classics album which probably inspired kuh to follow suit with a collection of old standards. her inclusion of "unforgettable" is remarkable and quite prophetic as she superceded natalie cole who released the song in 1991 which then became her most successful recording. |
