Ray Manzarek has some piano skills!!! I think Emerson's technique is better, but that doesen't mean that they can't be compared in terms of technique!

from the technical point of view he can´t be compared with emerson - only good jazz musicians could.

I'd mention Ray Manzarek!

keiths technique went down the tubes after 1996 and lake can barely sing a high note anymore.

Let´s face it: there was no other rock keyboard player in the rock genre who had that technique, virtuosity and sense for new sounds than Emerson. Just forget the rest, especially Jon Lord :-))

We can do without all the psychadelic crap, seeing them as they were in concert would be much better.

I guess Bob Moog never envisaged the sounds that Keith could produce from that fantastic invention. Witness the sheer power at 10.00 of that Moog on full blast!

I've been a fan of these guys since I was about fifteen years old, and I still hope to someday see them perform live if it ever happens again. Their adaptation of Tocata from the Brain Salad Surgery album in particular had actually inspired me to be a mathematics major when I was struggling through trigonometry in highschool and something in that song caused something to spark in my brain and it became a piece of cake. So anytime I study math I listen to ELP. I Dont know why but it works.

I love where they go into Bill Evans' "Interplay" at about 6:45! What rock band other than ELP would ever play Bill Evans?! |
