Research funding for AIDS was cut back at a critical time. If this had not happened, maybe we wouldn't've found an outright CURE yet (but maybe we would've), but we almost certainly would've been able to contain it before it spread so far and wide, devastating our species's home continent.
Even today, Christianity still contributes to this. Many Christian charities are ministering to AIDS victims, but still refusing to educate about condoms — the ONE proven means of curbing the spread.

Meanwhile, there is a holocaust going on RIGHT NOW that Christianity is partly responsible for, that has ALREADY killed more people than either Stalin or Mao. Before another generation passes, that body count is expected to outdo those of ALL dictators in history, INCLUDING Hitler, COMBINED.
I speak of the AIDS pandemic. Back in the 80s, we could still have contained it. But, Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority took over and got Reagan elected, and treated AIDS as just punishment from God on gays.

VERY few people have been killed in the NAME of atheism, compared to those killed in the NAME of religions of various types.
This differs from people who happen to be in a particular religion or hold to a particular philosophy killing people for reasons that have nothing to do with it. For instance, we don't count murders committed by some guy who happens to be a Christian as murders done BY CHRISTIANITY, so long as the murderer's religion had nothing to do with it.
