One thing this thread would have you believe is that all race mixture in the US during slavery or Jim Crow days was the result of white men raping black women. While that certainly happened, there were love matches between the races, even marriages in those states where interracial marriages were permitted. Native Americans freely intermarried with blacks, though some Cherokee and other Native Americans had slaves, too. The history of the U.S. is too complicated to branded as "black or white"

well when it comes to fayfay23 you can't completely call her ignorant...in a lot of ways she has her personal right as a darker black person to be pissed because throughout history light skinned blacks have always had it better..they were the house slaves while the dark ones broke their backs outside..many could even live a way better life by denoucing their blackness and say they were white...even today there is a difference..its just reality folks..

I am 17 years old. I am just learning about Dorthy Dandrige's greatness and I scroll down to see a debate about what is black and what is not. This is sad. Am I treated any different than you because I'm light skinned? NO!In all actuality I feel that I'm treated worse because I'm not totally exepted by whites, blacks or Puerto-ricans. I think what makes a black person is if they feel the struggle. My grandmother marched with freedom just like yours and therefore I am just like you! |
