I feel ashamed to admit I'm only listening to this great song because I saw the pilot of "Life on Mars" on ABC. If it's any consolation, I've liked this song for years, ever since I heard it in the pilot of the BRITISH version of "Life on Mars". There. That should help me seem like less culturally ignorant.

Colonel Parker, Elvis's manager, heard Bowie recording Golden Years and asked him to write some music like that for Elvis. Elvis died before anything became of it.

The 70s was truly the greatest decade for good music. RCA supported David and stuck with him through good and bad. That's how it worked back then.
David replaced Elvis at RCA as their biggest recording artist. |
