IAF F-16I CAN and already do operationaly supercruise on alert missions, that is thanks to F100-PW-229. but still, stealth is neccery, and its not completely passive. its partly active, so stealth is a tool that needs to be considered, and when brought into the mix it brings more elements to the fighter.

AmFearLiath, you may be right, but the F-16's primary role is to seek out and destroy SAM sites and radars, they are usually escorted by F-15s

what is the song by Rammstein?

but not in overall military performance, such as stelath, trust vectoring, avionics, and agility. on each of those the F-22 wins out, that doesen't demean the F-16 but it makes the point of overall ability superiority

F16 engined F100-PW-229 are already supercruise engines. In fact the F100-PW-229 engine actually generates more cold thrust than the F22 F119 at supersonic speeds at medium altitudes. Combined with with the F16s uncompromised aerodynamics and low frontal area (not constrained by Airframe 'Stealth' shaping and large frontal area of the F22), the F16 actually outclasses the F22 in 'Supercruise' performance.
