Yes, the wave would break on the opposite shore on the island.

thats the coolest thing ever!, saw a concept like this in waves magazine, only a drawing though, but this is sweet, have it like the waverider in california but have a continuous break, but wouldn't you get smashed if you wipeout, you'd have to duck under the guy riding the wave behind you i would've thought lol

i just wunna point out that this is the best idea going. if u can get the waves that perfect in the pool all u need is them to be abit bigger n that will be awesum good luck:D

Our thoughts exactly! 12 waves in an hour for AUD$30. With each wave thirty seconds long, no waiting for sets and no hassling, it should be cost effective, and just FUN!

I just want to point out the obvious that in the video the boat is pushing the wave at the opposing shore, (which in itself is sick;) and in the computer generated image the device is pulling the wave on the same shore and not pushing it. My question is, have you tried doing this in a circular motion (be it a pool?) They are two completely different applications of force to create wave shapes. From watching the video it would seem that the wave would break on the island (opposite shore.)

If anyone can make manmade perfect surfable waves, surfing could concievably become the most popular sport in the world, if it is cost effective. Surfing even pefect small waves beats working out, running, tennis, golf, bowling, etc. etc. etc.

i reckon get the emiratees` on board! build it in dubai or abu dhabi. those guys are amazing what they`re willing to build,- palm island and the world and 7 star hotels etc. no shortage of cash either!

That's awesome. I'll definitely keep an eye out then. How much would it cost to have a pool of this sort installed?

We're aiming for a 6 foot face (3 foot), though we can scale it back for beginners by slowing the hulls.
