The New! Philippine Comics, 1990-Present (IN TAGALOG)

Apologies to viewers outside the Philippines as this video is in Tagalog, without subtitles. I hope to have one with English subtitles in the future. This is a video that should have been presented at the Komiks Congress at the NCCA in Intramuros on February 27, 2007, on behalf of the younger generation of Filipino comic book writers and artists. It wasn't. It's too bad because I feel that the voice of the new generation is an important one if ever the Philippine komiks industry is to be revived. The Komiks Congress has been organized by personalities of the older generation in the hopes of reviving the Philippine komiks industry. It has come to my realization that they may not be fully aware of us and our accomplishments in the past 15 years, the most important of which is the establishment a new burgeoning industry of comics in the Philippines in a time when the old industry was collapsing. With this video I hope to give voice to the many of us in the younger generation by introducing ourselves, our work, our hopes and more importantly, our suggestions in the effort to continue reviving the industry.

Did I really miss the intention of the video? Or did you you misinterpret my comment as an assault? Well, I'm sorry if you took it that way. May be I phrased my sentence too general. But I don't think I have to cite examples of whose creations are bitin or just ripped off somewhere. We all know which is.

I can name you many recent local comic books that are finished and complete. Andong Agimat, Maskarado, TRESE, ZSAZSA, One Night, Lexy Nance and Argus, Cast, Mythology Class, SIGLO,Wasted, Humanis Rex, etc. etc. You only have to look at this video to see a fraction of them.

You missed the intention of this video. This video lists the accomplishments of the younger generation as a report for the Komiks Congress, where the younger generation is fighting for a voice in developing Philippine Comics. Which bitin at putol na comics were you referring to? Certainly many 90's comics were left unfinished, that's true. But that time has passed.

I'm a Filipino. I'm proud of Filipino artist. But be honest naman in rating your work or patting each other on the back. I support local stuff very much, but please, you guys are in the business of entertainment. Please entertain us, naman. Lagi nalang bitin. Putol Rip-off. Narito lang naman kaming mga tagahanga na tatankilik at susoporta sa inyo! Just make it worth our while! Mabuhay!

Guide to those Lost in translation: Philippine's COMICS is basically not an english translation for a comedian but that of cartoonist artistic product per se. Watch 8:10 for a start.
