this is one the reasons i love suppergrass, they can make songs that are fun and light hearted like "alright" and "pumping on your stereo" and also things that are a lot more serious and thought provoking like this song and "late in the day",

wish i had more room but here goes. mary is a common synonym for bud, push over into the (blood) stream, the color green mentioned in an otherwise somewhat random line, stories one wouldn't understand (aka stoner babble), eating/munchies, by far the most obvious is the "head like falling masonary" masonary - stones. falling masonary, stones thrown, or, getting stoned. the puppet machine stuff could be referring to the typical stoner feelings of "rebellion." could go on, but i'm outta room :3
