I worked in a hotel (in amsterdam) and they were there.. When I need to refill the minibar, I came at the door of the leadsinger. The whole room smells like weed. He also asked me if I can recommend him a good coffeeshop. I talked with the drummer, cause I only knew the name THE ROOTS and I listened their music but I never saw them before. He was very angry when I asked what kind of band they were...

once again...
"It's "I PUSH my seed in her PUSH for Life"
He incorporates his "seed" with her "ambition" and drive thus guaranteeing its survival.
The song is about old-time blues, bebop and jazz musicians (black musicians) NOT playing to black audiences (Mary) and specifically playing their entire careers to all white audiences (going behind Mary's back) and developing Rock-n-Roll. thus ensuring that their seed (their genius, their music, their legend, etc) survived."

i don't mean to offend you but i don't really think they meant the lyrics to be as crude as you probably perceive them to be but you are entitled to your opinion... |
