Throughout 1930s, the unemployment rate was double digit; GDP growth was mostly negative except for two years; American export declined for over 80% in dollar value, and 50% in physical volumn; there are estimated that 30% of the people were starving or malnutritious. "Middle class" is not for ones who have no bargaining tools in the market or earning minimum wage that needed government protection. Middle class is the ones who keep getting screw by taxation but receive no charity nor welfare.

I already named it over and over again. The U.S. government created the middle class that made us the envy of the world.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (1938) was the law that established a maximum normal work week of 40 hours and a minimum wage and outlawed most forms of child labor.
National Recovery Act (NRA), 1933: industries set up codes to reduce unfair competition, raise wages and prices.
And many 3-letter programs that employed millions. Without job, can you home for middle class?

Which government regulation can cultivate middle class? Can you name a single government that can create a middle-class so we can end our discussion?

The new deal didn't create the largest middle class in history. If you check unemployment rate, household income, and GDP growth in 1930s, America was still in recession in today's standard. Auto industry did create a middle-class in the US; and Henry Ford volunteered to pay enough wages for his workers to be able to buy the very car they personally built. Please, when you try to tell someone to read history, you should do that first.

I think you need to learn a bit more about logic before you use such terms as "logical fallacy".
Let me make my position clear for you: Capitalism does not build middle class. It is against the capitalist principles. Middle class can ONLY be cultivated by government regulation. If you want to counter that, find an example. God does not exist.
Socialism is to take care of ALL. It is not to make everyone equal. Once again, wiki "socialism" and you will know.

I already told you, the New Deal was what created the largest middle class in US. Just because you don't believe it does not make it untrue. With New Deal, the government grew. At the same time, the economy recovered and we had the largest middle class in the world.
By regulation, a government can encourage labor union and fair pay which are the keys to middle class. It does not mean only those who work for the government get to become middle class. |
