No. It might be viewed as a sort of trend, but it´s certainly not a trend of this generation. Or century, or even millennia. Old superstitions are going away, and they have been slowly doing so for the last 3000 years. As much as religious people like to mock it as a passing trend, it´s simply not true.

Generational trend. Every generation or two it switches to something else. And of course, everyone thinks the current trend is "the true way" or "logical" at the time. Be it worship of "science" or fanatical theism. It rises and fades. That is what I call a trend. A societal trend that fluctuates through generations.
