Many years ago a friend had mentioned that he had heard that Martin Lamble had died in a motor vehicle accident in UK along with a female passenger who was a girlfriend at the time of Richard Thompson. I'm not too familiar with which guy in this video is Martin. Can someone please post a comment to let me know.

I love the early (Judy & Sandy & Ian era) Fairport. Their first album is awesome! Judy Dyble was a fab chick. Sad she didn't stick around with the guys for a while longer, but then we have Sandy to be proud of. I'm not playin' favorites here: Judy & Sandy were both GOOD! Really good. Their contributions to Fairport are tremendous. Listen to their early recordings & BBC session recordings if you don't know 'em and find out what you've been missing! Classic music from a classic band!

I bought this album when it came out. A few of us at my Irish boarding school were into music, and I had a record player..,
Judy Dyble left the band after the road accident which killed a member, and injured others. The first Fairport album is really different, and is re-released along with their other early and vital albums.
Thanks for finding it. I think it still sounds fresh.

Man I loved these cats, saw them a couple of times prob 30+ years ago. My fav was that ballad about Little Matty Groves, hmmm, wonder if it's on here? Thanks for the posting. |
