Buckley was a great conservative theorist; but Chomsky is totally correct in his assertions about Imperialism.
After all, calling each other names doesnt make either corret to their respective political points of view; it just makes them both childish name callers!
I stand with Voltaire on matters like this; I'll agree to disagree with both of these extremists, but defend til death their right to say it.

countless times? I counted once. How about you? Brilliant? Buckley's argument was that the people protesting the Vietnam war were asking (or at least deserved) to be beaten. If you saw all 12 debates you would know that Buckley had himself been beaten soundly by Vidal -- Buckley's desperate outburst was frustration -- so much for free speech.
