You can appreciate it more, but the fact of the matter is that the movie is usually considered better due to the fact that they didn't have to put as much effort in. The voices were recorded and therefore sounded to their best, and the scenery could be remade as many times as needed. There's more to respect here, but all in all the movie is a better quality.

Umm...it's a stage show.

Um, did you even watch the movie? Of course they used Lucy! Duh! The plot would make no sense otherwise! Uneducated idiot. I like the movie and the play equally. They are different, and should not be compared.

i respect this version allot more than the movie especially because this has the whole ensemble and atmosphere to create the tone of a disgusting city with strange people and the beggar woman is one of the best parts of the musical and they didnt even use her in the movie that much i really respect stephen sondheims work creating this masterpeice every instrument adds so much to the feeling of the play

When Todd says "I've come home again" it is pretty sad.

I love the way Hearn's voice cracks when says "Don't I know you she said." I like Depp's Sweeney better, but Hearn's emoting is much better.
