that guy was technically proficient, he was a champion sumo wrestler and challenged the judoka. judo's technique is just different
jmillerdls (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
right, but if the 6'2 250lb guy was just as technically proficient, he would have destroyed the smaller man...that's what "all things being equal," means.
623judoka (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
thats right jiu jitsu and bjj are the same, like i told you. theres a reason they call it JAPANESE JuJitsu, because its not the same as BRAZILIAN Jiu Jitsu! so it looks like you finally learned about this shit you claim to have already known about
kruellag (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
OK what ever. A moron always stay like a moron 1ike you. JiuJitsu and Bjj are the same but if you like to say im wrong you won. Good for you. Go practice some where else not the states...
623judoka (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
ok, ill skool you some more. jiu jitsu and Jujitsu are completely different, no shit they dont call it bjj in brazil. its like in america we have wrestling, in japan they call it either folkstyle wrestling or american wrestling, and in america nobody calls it american wrestling. and bjj came from judo, and judo came from Jujitsu. look up the spelling cuz you dont know what the fuck youre talking about
kruellag (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Wow you are a simple moron. If you know Jiu-jitsu, Jujutsu, and jujitsu they all are the same is just stuff of pronunciation because it is written in other language that dont have a straight forward translation. If you have ever train in Brazil, like I have they dont call the art Brazilian Jiu-jitsu or Bjj they just call it Jiu-jitsu. Because they know from where it come from it is just a adaptation from the original Jiu-jitsu.
623judoka (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
alright, well i happen to know a "little" on history of martial arts. you, fuckhead do not. Judo comes from JuJitsu, not jiu jitsu. heres the order; JuJitsu, Judo, then bjj or (jiu jitsu). jiu jitsu is the same as bjj. the spelling you used is portugese (jiu jitsu) for the japanese art (JuJitsu), the two are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. youre basically saying judo comes from bjj, and its the other way around. but i dont know anything right?
kruellag (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
lol this is not true Judo comes from jiujitsu. You should learn a little of history of martial arts.
623judoka (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
thats true when it comes to boxing or wrestling, but do some research on judo then, cuz it was specifically made so a smaller competitor can beat a much larger opponet. again it was pure technique and size didnt matter. look up Mifune, he was a 5'2 100 lb judoka (with a HIGH ranking black belt) he had a NHB fight against a 6'2 250 lb sumo wrestler. the judoka managed to throw the sumo wrestler repetitively with no effort and without a Gi and finished him in a matter of minutes, pure technique
dirtyjew1974 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
all things beign equal the bigger stronger guy always has an advantage because its harder to manipulate a bigger stronger guy, its sports science...a heavier object is harder to manipulate and kimura also being stronger only added to tha difficulty and if size didnt matter in fighting then there would be no weight divisions!
