i urgently need money like the next person. this is a fact. without money, i can't afford food, a flat, transport to work etc. And yet it's still made of paper. It's made from wood. Strange stuff this world's made of. or is that a bit arty farty.

It was only a million, which isn't really much, compared to what they have left.
If you have $50 and you burn $10, no big deal, you still get paid next month anyway,these guys are still making money from royalties.

Despite everything said here, imagine the RUSH of actually doing it! The physical act of incinerating £1M. A wide range from giddiness to disbelief and (probably) horror in seconds. Must be worse than stage fright, and in the end the documentation of the event is quite crappy (which is kind of fitting).

I'd rather watch KLF burn the quid then watch these half-ass rappers "make it rain". Sure, rappers are throwing money away to others, but in the end the artist no longer has it. KLF just showed that the money NEVER controlled them. Good for Bill and Jimmy. They earned the money, let them do what they want with it. And save the argument of "the less fortunate". They don't owe "the less fortunate" a damn cent.
