Some of these comments have been very disrespectful towards both Gloria & Janis. Both were highly gifted women who each made an unforgettable mark on our culture. I don't think there was any malice on the part of either one. I think they both felt shy and awkward about meeting eachother and I'm sure were unsure of how they'd be recieved by one another as they were from such different worlds. Indeed it's interesting to see two very different stars coming together like this !

Two completely different worlds here, with Cavett in the middle. Everyone was charming.

they seem to be laughing at Gloria, that's bad, they should respect her, specially Janis.

* I don't think they were arrogant.

I don't think their arrogant. Janis looks a bit shy to me.

I think Ol Gloria was being snobby and arrogant.....i dont see Janis' arrogance at all. At least Janis didnt wear a **BAD** Barbie wig and fkn sack dress.

I agree with your comments and good point regarding generational differences. At 26 and with all the fame Janis had--I don't think she felt or was in control enough to be truly arrogant. Gloria Swanson had more time to deal with her fame and seemed to be blessed with the ability to make peace with it.

wow id like to see that!

"7beers" ;I totally agree with you. Miss Swanson was a very smart lady, talented and beautiful. She had traveled the world all around and had lots of class. Janis Joplin was called "the ugliest guy in campus" while she was in college.

I really don't see the arrogance at all in this clip people are talking about. They're just talking and of course Gloria Swanson is a legend of movies so she's kind of got that "divine" act going, but Janis is just having a good time talking and laughing. I don't see any arrogance. |
