Largemoose-You're thinking of Mozart's "Ronda Alla Turca" which is in 6/8 time. This is off Brubeck's "Time Out" album which was an experiment in musical time. It alternates between 9/8 and 4/4 time and sometimes they're playing in both. In those days it was very exotic.

My alarm went off this morning at 6 AM, tuned to some jazz station coming out of Canada, and this song came on--it was the first sound I heard this morning, and the first time I had ever heard this piece. I laid there, totally in awe, completely in the moment. What a way to start the day.

There is a piece of classical music I've heard that sounds surprisingly similar to this.
Might have been film music though, so perhaps it was copied from the tune rather than vice versa.
