What if she decided to steal a car which was on the island because she didn't feel like walking for days? Anyone would have^picked up a random car, at a salesman's place, or just on the street.

how else would the chick have gotten on the island WITH HER CAR? Remember, she came and saved will's ass with her truck when he tried to avenge his dog. so she had to have come across a bridge to get there.

this is ending is better because it relates to the original i am legend book by mateson. The "LEGEND" in the title doesnt refer to smith dying for the sake of humanity. it refers to smith realizing the infected are still think and that by killing all the infected. He becomes a monster in the eyes of the infected. So to the infected, Smith is the last remaining monster and therefore to the infecterd smith is the "legend"
