Although I am an english speaking South African my afrikaans after 11 years is still pretty good. The majority of my friends in SA are Afrikaans, and over here a lot of us will automatically speak Afrikaans to each other, we are not being rude to the Brit, we just enjoy speaking the "taal".
Oh and the song itself is by Donnie Darko and is called Mad World I think it is a brilliant
piece of music.

All this hate the Boer and hate the Soutie, well you lot are fucking dumb, my grandad left the UK to go and fight the boere, he ended up staying there and I was born in THE RSA. I am absolutely over the moon PROUD to be a South African even though I have emigrated to the UK. My time is almost over but my kids have the rest of their lives ahead of them and they know that their heritage is PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN, I served in the Navy and the Army. BTW JC Smuts's is family from my moms side, proven.

Another fact... This was the second Boer war. We defeated the English in the first one and up until the concentration camps were put in place we again were winning the second. The english had suffered heavy deafeats.
The only war the British empire ever lost was the first Boer War. Maybe oneday there will be an apology for what they did to us and the consequences it had up until this day... |
