Just so you know..... The EWI is way more ''ergonomically'' Challenging than sax.... especially with the rollers and all that so yeah
connsax58 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i didnt say, joe sounds like joe, just because of his fingerskills. for sure ergonomic issues are not music itself. i totally agree with that.

So you should probably just approach it like playing totally different instrument. It's not like playing saxophone disables one from playing piano. It's just how it works. Most problems with saxophone still come from bad breath support and overdoing issues. It's not Hendersons finger height that made him sound "Joe". Don't get me wrong, ergonomic issues are surely important! :) But they're not music itself. I don't think one should ban any musical possibilities for technical headrooms sake.

yeah when!!?? thats cool brtoher trombonist!! hahaha
connsax58 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
fettfri, in generally for a musician, who wants to be quiet fast and tight, it´s in my mind important to have your fingesr always on the bottons, because then it costs less time to play the notes. check joe henderson out and watch his fingers. and thats the problem with the ewi. If your fingers touch the bottoms you automatically play the notes you touch

Sorry... My comment reply was addressed to connsax58 about EWI destroying sax skills.

Based on what? Please tell me more about this. I see no reason why learning to play a wind controllable synth would mess up your sax. Unless you seize playing sax of course... In my mind Michael will live as the proof that anything is possible. Excellent vid!!

rantarave (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

The new yamaha comes out soon and is expected to rival the Akai 4000s. It has push keys rather than sensors. Probably a good choice for you.
