Holywoodowl, with all due respect, I understand its unPC to state that someone sounds Black or White, but when it refers to music, that's the case. I'm not saying that she sound stereotypical, but when it comes to music many times, but not always, you can infer based on singing style & choice about their influences & culture. Joss Stone sounds like a white girl singing soul. Alice Smith sounds like a black girl who's crossing genres.
Let's agree to disagree and just love Alice's music, 'kay?

WTHeck? She sounds like a Black gal, plain and simple. She is a very good singer who doesn't limit herself to R&B and rap. There are plenty of us Black gals who like music, not just one genre. BTW, I hear a lot of White girls who sound the same, like some degree of Michelle Branch. I wish they'd add a little soul to their music the way Alice Smith does. She sings like she is fellin' it, not just giving a performance. Keep it up girl!
