The reason Dokken never got the recognition or commercial airplay they may have deserved is because they weren't really involved in any of the main styles of the time. They weren't death or thrash and they weren't glam, they did their own thing.

Ya know, going back and listening to this after all these years, it seems like this song was one of the few times that Don sounded tough and not wimpy and self-pitying.

AxerJk, the Churchill High School I went to was in Pittsburgh, PA. Glad to know somebody shared the same high school name! Dokken seemed to always be stuck behind Ratt and Motley Crue as far as the LA scene goes but they didn't need the hype to get recognition that they still have today. This is by far my favorite song by them and it still sounds great today. I think 'Under Lock & Key' was Dokken's most complete album. An excellent addition to anybody's CD collection, in my opinion.

Churchill High School?? In Livonia, MI???? If that's the school you're referring to, that's where I went!

me too, man. i pretty much started playing guitar because i wanted to learn that opening riff of "just got lucky". it was hard to get his solos 100% correct because if you listen really close he does a lot of "incidental" slides and scratches at the end of his runs.

George Lynch always had his own sound, like Zakk Wylde does...Very signature...Fucking love listening to him play!
