Phil Keaggy is awesome! He really breaks the mold of the typical Christian artist, and I appreciate that. He is an incredible player, and I love the flow of his music. It's seems effortless, but amazing.

I've always loved Phil's music, whether it be acoustic or electric. And I believe that Phil Keaggy is easily one the greatest acoustic guitarist that ever lived, possibly the best.

My experience with folks suggests that they are more afraid of those kind of reactions from Christians than ever having actually experienced them. Would that be the case with you? has anyone really talked to you like that? I mean i know there are pushy Christians out there - we're all just people with our own flaws anyway - but I think you'd be able to go to a Keaggy concert without much issue. There's nothing wrong with asking to be left alone too! I'd hope people would be respectful to you!

Yeah... he played at cornerstone before they brought in non-Christian bands (In the days of Bride, Larry Norman, etc). Anyways, hope that clears things up. And no, I don't listen to his music because it's Christian/he's Christian/blah blah blah. I don't care - He's just an awesome guitarist.

He actually doesn't mind that his music is Christian music, he just hates the business attached to it. In an interview he was talking about pre-CCM music and how he enjoyed playing Christian music before it became a business. "I have strong feelings pro Christian music and then I have my misgivings about the business of it all. When he was asked why people don't put him in Christian radio anymore, he said, "Well, I think by-and-large Christian radio is just playing young artists nowadays.

Hi:
I just saw your entry. I agree that labeling it as Christian Rock may be inappropriate. I disagree with your premise that evangelists capitalize on Christian Rock. Some may. However, Christians do a LOT of good in this world! Are you saying you would rather give your money to a rock act that spends on wild living and drugs?
Please let me know.

without a doubt some of the finest guitar work on earth... i just think its a shame that he has to be labeled "Christian Rock". when i go see a musician i dont want the baggage of organized religion and evangelists capitalizing... but i absolutely Love the music as long as nobody is handing me a church brochure or telling my loved ones they will burn in hell if they dont this or that... |
