you're joking right? it's one of the safest ways to land a pike. most of the big pikes are landed or boated like that and if they would have the backbone broken they will not be able to swim ever again. instead of net them with some big lures with 2 treble hooks in their mouth and risking a nasty tangle, it's better that way.

did u know that u actally kill the fish espacially the pike(gädda) when u lift it up like this?
just wanna tell u that u kinda rip off his back with that! the fish is not used to it cause the gravity is not that strong in the water! so its pointlss to release the pike after lifting it up on one site
