The machine will print out a ticket with your number. The biggest obstacle is you need a certain chip on your credit card for it to work. My American card didn't work but my cousin lent me his card which was fine.

I was visiting Paris last week (thursday - sunday) and I saw those bikes in use and I wanted to try those also. We have a quite similar bike system here in Helsinki but our idiot locals keep breaking our bikes.

hm... well, I did some research, and found that you could just buy one from the pay station at the Bike Stop.
