I used to be a huge Sloan fan as a teenager. Had an amazing red t-shirt. My tastes have changed alot but I will always love sloan. I remember listining to them on a discman. Times have changed. Sloan inspired a huge indie band scene but this scene has died. The scene was kind of killed by the explosion of punk rock. I think it is worthless to compare them to an other band because for me they are special.
