yeah but that was the manics all over. they were so good because they fell so far short of being what they were pretending to be but bothered pretending anyway. if theyd been as good as they werent they would have been shit.

I can't decide whether this is the best video of all time, or the worst. Maybe the concept is brilliant, but the execution is naff beyond words.
I saw them do this at Shepherds Bush in about '97, with Kylie doing Tracie's part. Strange beyond words.

I first listen to this song when I was in my 15. Now more than ten years have passed but it's still amazing.
It has that decadent bitterish aftertaste that is pure beauty to me. |
