yes, like share your entire life because you think you have privacy using a pc or mac ignorance is bliss. just start opening library files and any false sense of security will quickly fade.

Thats true. I use XP and Ubuntu, only bugs I experienced were neglect from the kernel (it hates my nvidia card) and crashes. Anything else, well, is working fine. I'm not a programmer or hacker... None of those skills. I love linux for it's freedom from MS and DRM.

I would love to write a BREW version of the gps tracker but my problem is the cost of getting the application certified. They don't make it cheap to write brew programs unfortunately.

Hmm, the xv6700 does indeed have GPS, but I am not sure whether VZ blocks it or not. Guess I'll find out. I can see that as possible, since the vast majority of VZ phones don't do Java (only crap BREW) with the exception of most of the Motos and of course the 6700...possibly a couple more models. Probably my real mission is to get live GPS navigation working on this phone- then it would be perfect.

Yes, that is correct under two conditions. That the phone has gps and that verizon has not blocked gps for *developers* for that particular phone. Some cell phone companies will block gps to developers unless they pay a lot of money. Nick

So I have an xv6700 already hacked with Java (so I can run OperaMini). From what I understand, I can put a google maps thing on my website, and every 60 seconds my phone will send its location to that map on my website via EVDO data? is that correct?

I really don't know much about computers, and never took a class. ubuntu can be learned, people have to want to break the microsoft cycle. Of course, if you don't play games then you get work done, and linux don't play games (save for cedega and then it plays anything you want). If you aren't into linux, then you really aren't into computers. Computers are just little MS jerk off boxs that die a slow agonizing death from all the exploits and hijackers.

Wow, cold response. Probably coming from a computer nerd/geek....because I know some friends in college who are in computer/networking degree programs and they don't use Linux... I agree that it's probably not gay and very good, but there is a reason to why pretty much nobody uses it (and it's not due to the lack of marketing) :D

Listen dude, computers aren't for you. You have no imagination and no cognitive endurance. Your world is a very dark, stultifying place. Don't try to talk and eat very slowly. This world is too big and scary for someone as small as you.
