Read George Bernard Shaw's comments, when he was a music critic, about the equally famous Adelina PATTI , in London in the late nineteenth century [around 1890]. She was due to leave for a tour abroad but kept returning to sing another aria and he wrote "Out tripped the Diva" . Together with "Queen of Song" it is the conventional term for a great woman singer.
