Contrary to popular belief, Hitler was elected, fair and square.
Democracy gives you what the majority want.
However, if the majority are dangerous arsemonkeys with a swastica on their pjs and ideas about invading Poland for living space, democracy gives you that too.
It's currently better than the alternatives we have so far thought up, but democracy has its flaws.
Don't like 'em? Invent something better!

Fascism is, in the modern era, little more than a buzzword used to invoke resentment. Yes, Scientology is evil, and yes, they have unreasonable city statutes, but that is irrelevent to whether or not their mayor/city council/etc are popularly elected (or appointed by a popularly elected mediator).

They're supposed to give advance notice of street closures. Why they demand to see drivers licenses and take down social security numbers from non-scientologists who just want to reach their own homes remains a mystery. Unless it's an intimidation tactic of course. Force the normal folks out, so the clams can claim Clearwater.
I don't call that democracy - I call it fascism.

It is certainly democracy, since the clearwater residents (mostly Scientologists anyways) POPULARLY VOTE for such policies.

Look up 'Gold base' or 'Flag'. $cilon central is Clearwater, Florida. To the disgust of decent residents who have to show ID to enter their own streets, and can't have visitors when paramilitary $cientology thugs close the streets. That's democracy for you!
