The the words "white", "black", "mulatto" are in the same category of descriptive nouns we use in everyday casual language, and they are all equally non-offensive.

Clearly you aren't biracial, so have no idea what you're talking about. Calling someone mulatto is like calling a black person a negro. Some might take it as far as being called the n-word. You might get a beat down. Why can't you just respect where we are coming from and not use that word? As far as Obama, he has never denied his biracial background. The media is labeling him as black. And maybe he does too. It's up to him how he wants to identify himself. Welcome to 2008!
