enter into your terminal
sudo apt-get install simple-ccsm
then enable compiz with
compiz --replace
and then go to your system > preferences > advanced desktop settings effects
your compiz effects should be in there

Sabayon, but you could probably get compiz-fusion in ubuntu by going into system -> preferences -> appearance -> visual effects.

First, get Ubuntu 8 (Hardy Heron), then go to System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects and then click "extra". You can also get more than what's already there, but I forget how. Sorry.
