I love Camel. Saw them a couple of times live. Thought that 'Nude' is so relevant in view of the US campaign in Iraq and if re-released would hit home in a real sombre way. Having said this, in comparison to Floyd, Camel are rather lightweight - much more 'easy listening'. As charming as Snow Goose is, it can't truly compare with the gravitas of Dark Side' or 'Wish You Were Here'.

Camel has a unique sound, but I could recommend Camelian bands as the German ROUSSEAU and the French-Turkish ASIA MINOR. Maybe similar sound in flute or keyboards is also sometimes found in Hungarian SOLARIS, French PULSAR, Mexican CAST, etc.

The Snow Gose is IMO one of the finest pieces of rock music ever written, certainly never got the recognition it deserved, while others, ie Oldfield,Rick Wakeman, did get vasst amounts of acclaim, one of those British Rock music mysteries. |
