Angelo Worthy-Albert Ayler
This is a poem I wrote about Albert Ayler. A Saxophonist whose music means alot to me. He was one of the most important figures of the "New Thing" Jazz movement of the mid to late 1960's. Albert influenced many of his contemporaries including Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp and John Coltrane. Anyone who enjoys this poem may want to consider checking out some of his music. Albums like Spiritual Unity, Spirits Rejoice, Live in Greenwich Villiage and Music is the Healing Force of the Universe are all worth a listen. it seems to me that icons who influence the world around them and esp. in their realm of profession are not fully appreciated until their dimise ...what a shame... great poetic insight....
