I was only replying to your previous comment to me you told me If I wanted a good time to go SF Im already Sapper and Jump Qual. Im sure if I wanted a SF slot I could fight for one. Im a 2 year 2 stripe I currently serve with A Co 3rd BTSB Sapper PLT 82nd ABN DIV I was only backing everything you said about the Sapper Leadership Course and Ranger school the difference between the two and who could get into them schools

Could not readily aquire the other string you commented on, but this will do. You can get SF with thatt score but I think only in communications or 18-E, 18-B-Weapons,C-Engineer,& D-Medic all require 110 minimum on the GT. Don't go off of my words though, speak to someone with a clue on all this stuff more recently than April 2001. That's when I got out and went into business for my self. That keeps me so busy, I don't keep up with this sort of stuff anymore.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt that Special Forces? 18C is the MOS for a SF Engineer Sergeant. I dont think I scored a high enough GT to go SF my ASVAB scores were throught the roof my line scores were great to GT is my only Cat that isnt 110 or higher its like a 108

there ya go! Wasn't lost in the woods fun? These guys don't know. All they know is what the see about the Army on TV and here from friends. If you wanna have fun though... GO 18 series engineering after Ranger school. Mark my words, that is where the party is at.

A big differece between Sappers and Rangers is that anyone with a combat MOS can get into Ranger School. You have to be an engineer to be a Sapper. That means maxing out your ASVAB or said another way, have a high IQ. I was a 51T back in the day and now the engineering series has shifted to 21s. This limits the number of applicants and keeps the club smaller. If Rangers need engineers in their shittiest situations, they cal a sapper to the front no matter where they are or what's happening.

OOPS, excuse me, I meant Rangers have to go to sapper school if they wanna be Sappers, and visa versa. My point is that they are not meant to compete against each other as some civy minded folks wanna believe. They are made to augment force structures in a way that will allow units to carry out challengin missions. Sappers can be inserted alone behind enemy lines much like snipers & w/ similar missions, ie. destroy something or someone w/ explosives or sabatage, also for recon actions and more.

Rangers have to go to sapper school if they wanna be rangers and visa versa. many things you see in one area of the Army are copied Army wide. No big deal. DOn't act like you know what you speak of if you don't. Ranger's need sappers. Sapper school is not a primary school it's a specialty school. Many sappers have also been through their basic a 5 month AIT that is built right into there basic and garrison life is identical, then they would be able to ask for or be chosen for sapper school.

I never claimed to be and expert on the subject at all I simply stated a fact that Ive personally seen and heard from others. My brother is Jump and Air Assault qualified he said TSAAS was harder than jump. So if that the awnser your searching for then yes I would say Air Assault is harder than jump school
KevAirborne82 (August 23, 2008 at 8:56 pm)
a sapper is a combat engineer trained in demolitions and they deploy with an infantry unit. i have just begun to learn all this after my recruiter turned me on to the sapper course

You must be a subject matter expert eh, an instructor perhaps? Most of the people with both tabs have told me sapper seemed more difficult to them, not my opinion because I have yet to know. I'm just passing on what they said, I'm also gonna go ahead and assume you think airborne is harder than air assault? when you haven't been to either or both? |
