The regular orchestra leader on TV's 1950 classic live show, Your Hit Parade, was one of the show's star's husband! Dorothy Collins was married to Raymond Scott, and appeared on Hit Parade every Saturday night with Gisele MacKenzie, Snooky Lanson, Russell Arms and Ray Charles (singers). Raymond is seen in an April 16, 1955 on camera performance with his quintette performing his composition Powerhouse. Not long after Hit Parade left the airwaves, Dorothy and Raymond were divorced amid rumors that Scott let his perfectionism get in the way of the marriage.

I've heard it before, but had to Wiki it, because I didn't know what. I think that's why 90% of the people looked this up. :D

raymond scott did more for music than anyone else in the 20th century
jonbecker03 (August 29, 2008 at 12:11 am)
the heavy metal of the fifties? not really. the fifties version of heavy metal would be, like, the blues or bo diddley. raw electric guitar based stuff. what scott was doing was just another variation on "modern jazz" or "progressive jazz."

I remember that classical composer, John Williams', dad was the original Scott drummer. Boy he was great. I don't think that's him here though (at least this doesn't look like hime to me).

Your right on both accounts of it being the heavy metal of the 50s and also the breakdown, As if you find the track by RUSH called la villa strangiato that middle breakdown is used
Theguyunderyourbed (August 7, 2008 at 9:23 pm)
This is like heavy metal for the 1950's, the middle part was like the breakdown....I remember it being used for factory parts in cartoons. Oh youth!
