This and the speech by Al Pacino at the end of Scent of a Woman are the absolute two best verbal "kick ass" speeches to ever be filmed and put in a movie. Different audiences, but they were both filled with hard, fast character and firmness. Scott and Pacino were fabulous.

Well, the US left S Vietnam to defend itself on its own in 1973. The S Vietnamese government stood for two years before the North invaded. I'm not sure that can be classified as a loss for the US.

well, what exactly would u call vietnam---a shimmering success?? i just remember it as the WAR THAT WOULD NEVER END or THE WAR IN YOUR LIVING ROOM. 57,000 americans died----and for what?? this war did far more than anything i can ever imagine---watergate included---to bring down the moral of america---and divided this country something terribly. i remember 1967 fremshman year we had this guest speaker giving a speech entitled "alternatives to the draft." good ol' lbj & robt mcnamara

Good old Patton. A bad guy who happened to be on the good side. Damn good thing he died when he did, or we'd probably have wound up in a nuclear war with the Russians before 1960. Great commander, sure, but what a dumbass.

well actually....that war was a conflict....so we still havent lost a war...

The war of 1812?

"but we had nothing to do with Vietnam by then. And we have not yet lost Iraq." Patton would have kicked your butt for that horse dump.

I don't know how you people get we lost Nam. To lose, you must be defeated. We were not defeated we just quit because of commie liberal pricks and stupid politicans.
