I once saw an interview with Ogre and William Morrison (who played guitar in OhGr as well as did the video for the song). They said that the video wasn't a dig on Trent, but rather basically just poking a little fun at a friend.

Reznor has never been a musician for the sake of industrial. Yes, he has taken influence and tricks from bands like Skinny Puppy, but you can't really expect a person who is mostly influenced by popular artists like David Bowie to do the complete opposite of pop in terms of music structure. Also, he hasn't been "ripping off" of industrial music since the Fragile, which is pretty much the first of many albums by Nine Inch Nails you could call just rock.

Yes that is one thing I will say you are right. I really don't think ohgr would that type of person. I have meet ohgr twice, and he was really cool. I don't think he would really do something like that. Mr. key on the other hand, who I am a huge fan of was very rude. But what can you say he is one of the best despite how he acts to a fan.

I agree with you. But that's how it goes, a band is influenced by another band, and they bastardize it into something of their own, and the cycle continues. Skinny Puppy-Nine Inch Nails-Marilyn Manson-My Chemical Romance. Whether you like it or not that how it goes. I'm sure if you go back far enough you'll see that Skinny Puppy ripped off something else.

Well if you listen to interviews it doesn't seem like anyone really likes Trent all that much. I'm not trying to stand up for the guy, I think this kind of thing should be beneath Ogre though, it's more something you'd hear hip-hop guys do. I'm not a fan of NIN in the slightest, but I don't love everything Ogre's done either. Cevin Key on the other hand is the man and can do no wrong. Duane was pretty great too RIP. |
