If I steal something, the music store has paid for it. They lose their money, or their insurance company does.
If I download something that I wasn't going to buy anyway, then nobody loses anything.

If I make a copy of an album, who loses? I haven't taken anything. I wouldn't have paid for the album if I couldn't copy it. Nobody has lost any money.
