I'm a big fan of Miles but there are two things I have to complain about: 1. I don't like his songs, such as Bitches Brew etc where there is only noise and a cluster of scales clutter, that nobody can understand or regocnize a melody/theme in it. 2. He is a great musician with great ideas but not the best trumpet player :)

Fascinating but tragic, great as Miles was, he could barely hold the notes at this time. It's a hard instrument, and Miles was the master, so let's be objective. The beginning of the piece is particularly weak, in terms of lip control. My(younger)wife was wondering what all the fuss was about -- so THAT's Miles Davis?

His music was happy and sad at the same time-that's life.

I saw miles many times during this time. This, though, was so nice. Miles playing in the pocket in terms of tonality, and milking for all the emotional sense of--what? blues? melancholy? down-ness? happy-down-ness? I don't know, but that was miles, making music speak emotion, and in his later years--died too young, btw--he did that well. Saw him in SF and Oakland and Concord Pavilion at this time and once melancholy, once fiery, once both. That was Miles. Miss that friggin crazy dude.

Hi ! If you are looking for CDs, "time after time" and "human nature" are on a CD called "You're under arrest". And if you want the DVD, they are both in "Time after time - Live at the Philharmonic concert hall" !
