Have you ever seen an AFL game? Don't correct me when you have no idea about what i am saying. First of all, the ball CAN bend. How else do players kick it straight through the posts when they are on the boundary line? And there have been so many goals where the ball bends along the ground and go through i'm certain you've never seen a game. And by the way, there is only ONE set of goals which the players go for.

Mare thats bull...an Aussie rules ball cannot bend. You hit the thing flat on the face of the boot and if it hits the ground it goes in every direction...lottery.
Football..(Association football)..is the ultimate in skill requiring incredible talent, you have one goal net with a keeper to beat...AFL you have 3 goals unprotected.

SOCCER is a good 'sport', and I bet so many of those sydneysiders play it because there is hardly any risk of being hurt, and it is a lot easier to play. The shape of the AFL ball is unique, and the players with the most skill CAN judge where it will most likely bounce. On the other hand, I must admit the way a soccer ball can bend in the air is awesome, but then again, an AFL ball can bend in the air AND along the ground.

You do need skill to be one of the better soccer players, but seriously, anyone can play it. AFL players need all sorts of skills to be one of the best, and the only thing wrong with it are the few players who act like they play soccer and fake for free kicks.

Then there was the olympics. I saw the end of Brazil v Argentina semi-final. Brazil trailing 3-0 with 10 min to play. Did they attack, no. Was there any desperation on their part to win, no. They just kicked the ball amongst themselves in defense. It was shameful but thats the way soccer is.

I just suffered through 7 weeks of soccer on Austrian TV. One player challenges another, one falls to the ground clutching leg in pain. Then they show the slow-mo replay & 90% of the time there was no contact. Skill in acting yes, skill in sport no.

Read the bounce?????..its a lottery. Watch any Aussie rules game and the ball goes everywhere with people scrambling about in a mad chase.
Football...or full name "Association football" there aint any chance in it or lottery...its all deliberate skill. Also you can cut the ball and bend it with swerve either inside or outside foot. We havent yet mastered it as we are still along way back from the top 30 nations...but with more Kewell's, Viduka's, Cahill's and co. we will get there. |
