i think everyone is bieng unfair to the bloody sketch.. sorry to pick you out in particular but ffs its comedy you're suppoese'd to laugh at the wit and humour not start a debate about the bloody war and who's grandad could beat up who's!

I think people are being unfair to Britain. In 1941 it had more territory than any other country in the world and they had all but defeated the Afrika corps in the Mediterranean and had fended off invasion. However i dont think that they could have won the war without shipments from America at least. Russia did the most towards victory for they allies by keeping the Germans occupied on the eastern front and desroying most of their army.

no britain was not a superpower.i agree it was a powerful country yes.but so was france.and germany obviously yet none of those free could match america or russia in temrs of production or military

Actually at the time britain was the main superpower, although within a thousand days of victory the empier ungratefull for everything we had done exploiting them and takeing their wealth etc had almost all gon independent, i mean theres just no pleasing some people, and as for being soundly beaten at dunkirk, yes we lost, but not many men where lost statisticially so it wasn't really a crushing defeat. Had america not entered the war i still think the allys would win thanks to russia ;p

I agree with you in the sense that Britain didn't win the war single handedly, but it can't be denied that without Britain standing alone for 3 years, the war would have been lost. And even if we were soundly beaten we came back! |
